What this site publishes
The listings describe businesses, not private individuals. They are compiled from public sources: business records on Google Maps (through a data provider), each business's own website, and what owners send us. A listing may name an owner or founder when the business's own website names them. Review text is never copied; the Google rating and review count are shown with a link to Google.
Our legal basis for publishing business information is our legitimate interest in running a useful public directory (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Any business can ask for a correction or for its listing to be removed at https://newyorkdigitalmarketingagencies.com/corrections/.
What we collect from you
- Forms. When you send the claim form, the corrections form or an email, we receive what you enter (usually a name, an email address, a business name and a message). We use it to answer you and to check claims. Basis: your request (Article 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in keeping the listings right.
- Owner accounts. Verified owners sign in with a one-time link sent to their email. We keep the email address, the businesses they manage, the changes they submit and a record of their payments. Basis: the contract with the owner (Article 6(1)(b)).
- Payments. Premium and Featured subscriptions are paid through Stripe. Card details go to Stripe and never reach us; we receive the subscription status and the billing contact. Basis: the contract, and our legal duty to keep accounting records (Article 6(1)(c)).
- Emails to businesses. We may write to a business at the email address it publishes, about its listing or about our services. Every such email says how to stop further emails, and we stop when asked. Basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)).
- Visit statistics. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
- Bot protection. Forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks the browser without tracking it across sites.
We do not sell personal data, show advertising, or use advertising trackers.
Cookies
The site sets no cookies for visitors. Owners who sign in get one strictly necessary cookie that keeps them signed in; it ends when they sign out or after 30 days.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare (hosting, database, email, analytics, bot protection)
- Stripe (payments)
- Anthropic (reading incoming emails to sort them and draft a reply that a person checks before it is sent)
- The services we use to compile and check business information from public sources
Some of them are in the United States. Transfers rest on the European Commission's adequacy decision for certified companies or on standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Messages and form submissions: two years after the last contact. Owner accounts: while the account is active, then one year. Payment records: as long as the tax and accounting rules require (up to ten years).
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, or to receive it in a portable form. You can also complain to a data protection authority; ours is the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (cpdp.bg), and you may also contact the authority where you live.
Changes
We update this policy when our practice changes. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version.
